The Cambrian explosion occurred around 538 million years ago and was a period that lasted around 20 million years, during which simple organisms quickly evolved into complex organisms that more closely resemble life as we know it today. This piece not only describes those organisms, their apparent oddity (take the extinct order Radiodonta, for example) and their environment, but also the fact that something so incredibly distant can still inspire excitement, awe and curiosity in us today, millions of years later.
